FAQ / Brainstorm
Page modified on March 27, 2009, at 12:58 PM

This FAQ assumes that you want to participate in the development of the TorrentBoy world (with or without creating actual content separate from the site itself).

How can I help? Right now, all that exists about TorrentBoy is what’s in the first book, and that’s not much. There’s a lot unexplored about Wesley’s past, how he became TorrentBoy to begin with, as well as the bigger world surrounding his powers. All of those things need figuring out and explaining. You can take anything related to the concept and explore it to your heart’s content. Maybe you think Wesley should be scared of clowns. Tell us why. In detail. And maybe someone else will take a fragment of your idea and explore it further.

How do I do it exactly? Register and log in to the site (see the sidebar) and you’ll be on your way. From there, you can edit or create the two types of pages we have: Characters and Abouts. Characters are, obviously, blurbs about people. Abouts are everything else. Edit existing entries or make totally new ones, it’s up to you.

What if I want to do something risky? If by “risky” you mean “make TorrentBoy take up drugs”, then please don’t do anything with that thought. We’re aiming for 6-11 year olds here. If by “risky” you mean “suggest a bold new direction for a character”, then you can decide for yourself: either post the idea as comment on the page you’re talking about, or just edit the page and hope for the best!

What if I don’t want to edit anything at all? If you don’t want to edit, you can still ask questions about subjects via the comments. That’s immensely useful to those reading the site for ideas.

How do I know if I should edit or add? Generally speaking, if you’re talking about a new subject, you want to make a new page. You can talk about TorrentBoy’s fear of spiders on his character page, but if you’re talking about “TorrentBoy vs Spiders”, you’ll make a new “Abouts” page for it. Try and keep vital information centralized so new readers see everything they need to see.

Your formatting sucks/what if I need a field that doesn’t exist? It’s very likely the format structure of the site will need to evolve over time. If you think a certain section needs rework, post a comment on this page and I’ll take a look at updating things.
